My partner and I stumbled upon this gem after a tough workout in the area. It reminded us of one of our favorite restaurants out in Brooklyn, so we were excited to try it! It was quite busy at 2:30pm on a Saturday, we got one of the last open tables available. Inside it was very cute, decked out for Christmas. It was such a tough decision picking what to eat, as everything on the menu and that we saw coming out of the kitchen looked great! We ordered their eggs benedict (which came on a potato pancake!) and the kasespatzel with bacon. Both were great post-workout fuel and we left satisfied. Will absolutely return next time we are looking for a hearty post-workout feast!

We were anxious to get back to Heidelberg after our first visit several years ago. On this chilly December day their hearty comfort food hit the spot. Service was pleasant and portions were sized fairly. The food is very authentic and we have had a hard time finding a restaurant similar to this one outside of the city!

Decent German food. Excellent sausages, decent schnitzel (I wish it came with potato salad instead of home fries though). The interiors feel like a proper gasthaus. They have heisse liebe too. German butcher next door to stock up on goodies.

Classic German food with a super cozy atmosphere. The restaurant alone is very welcoming and has a homey feeling. The menu is made up of tons of great German classics. The sausages are the way to go! They were all very tasty and the sides that came with them were even better!! I also tried the schnitzel and although it was good I would opt for something else. The food was delicious across the board and the beer selection was great! They have a nice little patio area in the back! The menu is a little pricey but the food is good.

I was pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed being here! The atmosphere is so much fun from the details of the decor to the beer mugs and everything! The beer was honestly so refreshing and so nice to get a imported German beer to fit the vibe. Everything we had was good but our favorite by far was the sausage platter. You can not go wrong with this. The schnitzel was good but we didn't feel it was worth the price point. Definitely want to come back during Christmas time and experience all the decorations. The service was awesome and can't wait to come back! Defintely give this place a try soon!

Classic German food, we got the pork platter for 3. We probably could've just ordered for 2, serving sizes are huge. I really liked the sausages and the potato salad, the pork was a little too fatty.

We were craving authentic German beer & foods so we came here! There was indoor & outdoor seating. We chose to sit indoors as I found it more comfortable. The waiters were very friendly & attentive. There was a big TV screen so you can watch your sports there. We were hungry so we ordered to share: 1) pretzel, 2) sausage platter for one, 3) wiener schnitzel, 4) beef gulasch entree, 5) black forest cake, 6) a fruity draft beer Pretzel - came w/ mustard & some cheese dip. The pretzel was super delicious & authentic. The pretzel was huge! It came out to us piping hot & the mustard+cheese dip complemented the pretzel very well! I would reorder this! Sausage platter for one (bratwurst, bauernwurst & weisswurst, served w/ potato salad, red cabbage & sauerkraut) - WOW! That bratwurst sausage was amazing! I loved that one more than the other 2. The potato salad was very delicious, but that red cabbage & sauerkraut was out of this world! I would reorder the bratwurst w/ red cabbage & sauerkraut as sides next time! YUM! Wiener schnitzel (breaded veal cutlet served w/ ligonberries, home fries and red cabbage) -The schnitzel was good but not the best. That ligonberry sauce was so delicious & made the cutlet even tastier. The home fries was delicious and very enjoyable, but that red cabbage is the star! Beef gulasch entree (hand cut tender chucks of beef, braised in paprika sauce served w/ spatzel and red cabbage) - WOW! This entree was super delicious. The beef chucks were so tender and well seasoned & braised. That spatzel was so delicious & complemented the beef well. Love that red cabbage! I would reorder this again! Black forest cake - I never tried black forest cake in Germany so i do not know if this one was authentic or not. This black forest cake was ok. We were happy to try it nonetheless. Fruity draft beer - I do not know the name of it, but asked the waiter for something fruity and refreshing. I regret ordering that because it ended up tasting like a juice more than a beer. I would reorder a draft beer next time! Super delicious foods! Great service too!

Never had German food in the States before so this was an interesting experience. Came here as a party for two for late lunch on a weekend without a reservation but was able to get a table very easily. Unfortunately, if you had arrived 15 minutes later you may have to wait a bit. In general, the service is pretty slow, it takes around 30 minutes after you order to get your food. - Wiener Schnitzel - Kind of surprised they served this although I guess if you have to serve any German dish it would be this. The schnitzel was pretty good, light breading with tender chicken although I wish there were a bit more flavor. The cranberry sauce helped a lot. The potatoes just tasted like diner potatoes. - Sausage Platter for One - I honestly can't taste the difference between the sausages but I liked all of them which is surprising because I usually don't like sausages. I will have to say though, the best part was the potato salad that doesn't have the normal consistency of the American ones that are more chunky. This one was more smooth but I still really appreciated it and it countered the meatiness of the sausages. Overall very solid German restaurant which I will come back for. Everything was a bit expensive and the service was a little slow but if you're looking for a different kind of experience, would recommend Heidelberg.

This authentic german restaurant feels like stepping back in time to the heyday of old "German Town" that used to be the Upper East Side. Although we only stopped in for a few great german beers and some appetizers, we left thoroughly impressed and determined to come back. We had the pretzel and the potato cakes which come with apple sauce or sour cream (we opted for the sour cream) Both items were delicious and huge. The service was excellent, out waiter was informative and attentive. Can't wait to go back.
